Introducing Fern

Dear Parent/ Carer,
We are excited to announce the newest member of the team, Fern the Therapy Dog.

Fern is a hypoallergenic Australian Service Dog (Labradoodle) meaning she does not shed her hair, she is 3 years old and will be visiting the pre-school on a Friday.

Fern will not be loose around the Pre-School, Fern with either be on a lead or she will be behind the gate in the office, the children will be able to go in and see her with Holly, read a story to her or have a cuddle if they would like to. Fern is looking forward to listening to
stories and going shopping in the home corner and exploring the garden. Fern will be bringing her back pack too, showing the children how she also her cleans her teeth and wipes her paws.

Fern will also be going to visit Joeys field in the afternoon, she will be on a lead walking around with Holly. Fern is very helpful at carrying sticks!

Therapy dogs can provide comfort, encourage positive behaviour, motivate speech and inspire children to have fun. Having a dog visit the setting will help children learn how to respect and care for companion animals and be less fearful and safe when around unknown dogs.

Fern has been looking after her 91-year-old Grandpa three days a week over the past few months and the family have seen the benefits of her being with him, we hope she can bring the same joy to the pre-school too.
